Always online

Tired of the world ending when the host logs off?

A server of your own keeps the camp standing through autumn, winter and whatever comes out of the caves.

Surface and caves, both running

Every server starts the Master and Caves shards together, so the caves are there from day one without you wrangling a second process.

Winter does not wait for you

The world keeps ticking when the host logs off, so a flickering laptop no longer ends the season for everyone.

Have your Klei server token ready

Online servers need a cluster token tied to your Klei account. Create one at accounts.klei.com, copy it, and paste it into the Klei server token field at checkout. Keep it private.

Bring your existing world

A cluster is a folder with cluster.ini, a folder per shard and your lists. Upload your own through the panel file manager and keep a copy of the originals, since the upload is yours to do.

Two shards, one machine

The surface and caves are separate processes, and both need cores and memory. Ryzen 9950X cores and NVMe storage give them room to run side by side.

DDoS protection built-in · auto-detection · zero downtime

The only things attacking your base should be hounds. Always-on DDoS protection keeps everything else away.

Briefing

About Don't Starve Together server hosting

A Don't Starve Together server is a cluster of shards. The surface (Master) and the caves each run as their own server process, and a cluster folder holds cluster.ini, cluster_token.txt and one folder per shard. Every EZ Game Host server runs both the surface and caves shards, so you get the caves without wiring up a second process yourself.

An online server needs a cluster token, which is proof that the host owns the game. You make it from your Klei account at accounts.klei.com or with TheNet:GenerateClusterToken() in the game client, and it goes in cluster_token.txt. On EZ Game Host you paste the token at checkout, along with a server name and a maximum player count.

Klei publishes no RAM or CPU figure for the dedicated server that we could find, and each shard is its own process with its own memory use. Admins work from the in-game console: c_save() saves now, c_rollback() reverts by saves, and c_announce() warns the camp before a restart. Mods are installed server-wide and enabled per shard, and keeping them compatible with the current game is up to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Don't Starve Together server cheaper than hosting from my own client?
Hosting from your own client costs nothing extra, but the world stops when you close the game. A hosted server keeps the world running while you are offline. Plans start at $12 a month, and you can cancel any time.
How many players fit on each plan?
Basic is set up for 6 players, Standard for 16, and Pro for 31. You choose the maximum player count at checkout.
What do I need before I check out?
A Klei server token. Sign in at accounts.klei.com, create a server there, and paste the token into the Klei server token field at checkout. You also pick a server display name.
Can I upload my existing world?
Yes. Stop the server, then upload your cluster files through the panel file manager. You do the upload yourself, so keep a copy of the originals.
Does EZ Game Host protect against DDoS attacks?
Yes. Always-on DDoS protection comes with every plan, so a bad actor cannot knock your camp offline.
Do I need a Klei token to host Don't Starve Together?
For an online server, yes. The cluster token proves ownership of the game and lives in cluster_token.txt. You create it in your Klei account at accounts.klei.com and paste it at EZ Game Host checkout. Offline clusters ignore the token.
Are the caves included?
Yes. Every EZ Game Host server runs both the surface and caves shards. Self-hosted, you have to start each shard as its own process with matching cluster settings.
What ports does a Don't Starve Together server use?
The Don't Starve wiki says to forward UDP 10999. Its example setup gives the Master shard 10998 and the Caves shard 10999, plus separate Steam ports per shard. Each shard on one machine needs its own set. EZ Game Host opens the ports for you.
