How to Join a Palworld Server on PC, Xbox, and PS5

Connect your friend group to the same Palworld world, set up community-server access, and troubleshoot missing servers and joining errors.

Palworld supports a shared server for Steam, Xbox/Microsoft Store, PS5, and Mac players. Xbox and PS5 players need the server to appear as a community server. It can still be password protected for your friend group. See Pocketpair's current platform guidance.

Before your group joins

Get the server name, address and port, password if one is set, and server version from the organizer. Update each game client to a compatible version. Check which platforms the server allows and whether any mods affect compatibility.

Join on PC

  1. Open Palworld's multiplayer server browser.
  2. For a direct connection, enter the server address and game port in the address field, using address:port.
  3. If joining through the community browser, search for the server's exact name and select it.
  4. Enter the server password when prompted. Keep the address or server entry for next time.

The address comes from your host. Use the assigned game port rather than assuming every hosted server uses the default. Pocketpair illustrates both routes in its connection guide.

Join on Xbox or PS5

  1. Open the multiplayer browser and select community servers.
  2. Search for the exact server name supplied by the organizer. Check any search filters if it is missing.
  3. Select the server and enter its password when prompted.
  4. Confirm you have joined the same world as your friends before continuing.

A co-op invitation code is not the address of a dedicated server. If your organizer only gave you an IP address, ask for the community server name and confirmation that your console platform is enabled.

Can a modded world work for a mixed-platform group?

Check each mod's requirements before changing the shared world. A mod that needs files installed on every player's device needs a supported installation route for every platform in your group. Ask the mod author whether it is server-only or also needs client files.

Pocketpair's server-mod instructions currently apply to Windows dedicated servers and require mods designed for server use. Confirm your host's supported method and required dependencies. Keep a backup and check that one friend on each platform can join before moving the group to the changed world.

For the server organizer

When self-hosting, community listing is enabled with the startup argument -publiclobby. It belongs in the server launch command, not at the end of the world settings file. On a managed host, use its community-server setting or ask support to confirm it. Pocketpair's deployment instructions show the Windows and Linux commands.

The current configuration uses CrossplayPlatforms to control allowed platforms. Keep a server password if access should be limited to friends. Refer to the current configuration reference instead of copying settings from an older game version.

If the server is missing or a friend cannot connect

  • Missing from search: confirm the server is running, its exact name, community listing, and browser filters.
  • Direct PC joining works but console joining fails: check community deployment and the allowed platforms first.
  • Nobody can connect: verify the address, assigned port, server version, and startup logs. Self-hosted servers also need the appropriate router and firewall configuration.
  • Only one person cannot connect: compare their platform, client version, mods, and exact error with someone who can join.

For help, send the server name, platform, client/server versions, and exact error to support. Redact passwords from screenshots. Once everyone is in, make a backup and save a copy of the joining instructions for the group.
